Rebecca Lang established Moe’s Place, a manufacturer of pet apparel, three years ago out of her love for animals and the environment. As she explains, “While our main goal is to support animal shelters, it is equally important that we do so in a manner that also benefits society and our planet.”
This globally beneficial goal plays a key role in both the company’s corporate identity and its day to day operations. Moe’s Place outsources sewing labor to support local Ohio businesses. Cevec, a company devoted to assisting students with special skills gain work experience, provides packaging for her company. In addition, all paper products, packaging, and marketing materials used by Moe’s Place are continually reviewed in a conscious effort to minimize global impact.
Rebecca proudly donates ten percent of all Moe’s Place proceeds to animal shelters throughout the United States. She tracks sales by region and donates to shelters in each area to ensure that consumers are assisting animals in their own communities. Rebecca plans to partner with additional small businesses, individuals, charities and other related affiliations working to make a difference in the lives of animals. “By focusing on one primary humanitarian effort, I feel I am able to provide the greatest contribution,” she said.
Inducted into Cambridge Who’s Who as a VIP member in 2008 for being a leader in the retail industry as well as in her own community, Ms. Lang attributes her success to her motivation and the support she receives from her husband, Mark Lang, who has an eye for finite business details and progressive management skills. Rebecca received her Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from The Ohio State University and actively participates in supporting petitions that seek legislative changes benefiting women, minorities, animals, and the environment. She counts the Sierra Club, Zonta, and the World Wildlife Federation among her favorite charities.
Rebecca finds her most gratifying achievement to be her ability to turn a concept into reality. She recently developed several dog collar sleeves that have been submitted for U.S. design and utility patents. She is planning to submit additional sleeve designs for patent in 2009 and 2010, but is currently focusing on developing brand recognition and global sales.
